Batford Site for 45 years.

What is your favourite thing about having an allotment?

Time to myself and producing vegetables for my family.

What is the best veg growing tip you’ve picked up and where did it come from?

Feeding by using Chempak.

What is your favourite fruit or veg to grow on the allotment?

Runner beans/onions/apricots.

Have you got a tasty allotment recipe to share?

Vegetable curry, add tomatoes,potatoes, carrots, sweet potato, runner beans, peas, grated onion, coriander, methi leafs, cumin seeds, garma massala, tomato puree, garlic, turmeric, ginger, cumin, salt, pepper, vegetable stock.

Just half an hour in the allotment can have physical and mental health benefits according to a study by researchers at the Universities of Westminster and Essex.

‘A case-control study of the health and well-being benefits of allotment gardening’ by Carly J. Wood, Jules Pretty, Murray Griffin is published by Oxford University Press on the Journal of Public Health.
